Nexus One hit by complaints

Whilst it is the downside of releasing any new product, it is hardly the kind of publicity that Google wanted for their 'superphone', but the sad fact is that the online giant is being flooded with complaints about the Nexus One.

Despite only being out for a week, the smartphone has generated a flood of complaints from consumers who have been having trouble with the new device. Not just that, but many have said they are unhappy with how Google have chosen to deal with complaints, choosing to only respond to questions by e-mail without any form of phone-based support.

Consumer disappointment

With the phone being able to be bought directly from Google and used on almost any phone network, the Nexus One has been unsurprisingly popular. As Google have found out, with such popularity comes numerous queries - chief amongst them have been how much people should pay for the phone and whether existing customers of T-Mobile can get the device at a reduced rate.

This question has been posted over 500 times on the support forum that that Google has set up for the Nexus One. Other questions include people asking how long it will take the new phone to reach them and problems with 3G wireless networks.

However now the main complaint has been how long Google is taking to respond to the original queries, with Google saying they will answer all problems via email... but that it will take one or two days to do so.

As such, many are angry that despite paying US$500 for the phone, Google have not bothered to set up a helpline. Google, as you'd expect, are confident that any problems will be ironed out in time.

"We've worked closely with our Nexus One launch partners to make support available through a variety of channels," said a spokesman for Google. "This is a new way to purchase and support a mobile phone, and we're committed to sorting out the few kinks that do exist."
